MM Music Education/Music Theory/Composition Applicants
M.M. Education, Theory and Composition applicants DO NOT need to perform an audition. However, if applicants wish to be considered for a Graduate Assistantship, they may request an interview on one of the regularly scheduled audition days. If you are unable attend one of the days listed below please contact the instructor in your degree area to schedule an alternate day. Applicants must also submit a Graduate Assistantship Application in addition to the interview request form. For more specific degree requirement information please visit the degree area websites.
Conducting Applicants
M.M. Applicants M.M. applicants in Choral Conducting will participate in a two day audition process on February 4 & 5, 2010, in which they will conduct portions of rehearsals with one or more of the University choral groups as well as observe classes and lessons. Students will be expected to have completed their application on or before December 1 in order to qualify for the February audition dates. For questions regarding these auditions, contact Dr. Welborn Young at (336) 334-5493 e-mail weyoung@uncg.edu M.M. applicants in Instrumental Conducting are required to submit a pre-audition video recording. Submit this recording along with the Graduate Pre-Audition Request form. See Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting for additional details. D.M.A. Applicants Pre-audition materials are required prior to a live audition for ALL D.M.A. applicants. Please note that pre-audition materials will NOT be reviewed unless the Graduate Application and $55 fee have been received by the Graduate School. Submit Graduate Pre-Audition Request form with pre-audition materials to the Director of Graduate Studies in The School of Music. If pre-audition performance is of sufficient quality, the student will be invited to campus for a live audition and interview. Upon invitation for a live audition, complete the Graduate Audition Request form (available in pdf or via this online form). See Doctor of Musical Arts for additional details.

M.M. Applicants All M.M. applicants in Performance should complete this form to request an audition date. The School of Music does not usually accept recorded auditions for M.M. applicants. If you are unable to attend the regularly scheduled audition times you should contact the instructor in your performance area to arrange another time. Please be aware that some areas WILL NOT schedule auditions except on regular audition days. D.M.A. Applicants Pre-audition materials are required prior to a live audition for ALL D.M.A. applicants.
