Dear Greenhouse Celebration Participants,

The Celebration is fast approaching, and I am looking forward to gathering with you all for this exciting occasion. Below are some details to make sure you find your way to registration. From there, your registration packet will get you through the rest of the weekend. So here goes!

Friday Registration will take place between 9 and 5 on the 2nd floor of the Jackson Library, 1000 Spring Garden Street on the UNCG Campus. It is here that you will be able to view the displays from the Greenhouse Collection. For those interested in looking at specific items in the collection on Friday, I recommend that you visit the collection website online at http://library.uncg.edu/depts/speccoll/cello/. Please note that the Greenhouse collection has yet to be catalogued, so you will only be able to see those items chosen for display. If you find anything in the other collections you wish to look at in particular, write down the name of the piece, the collection name (Silva, Eisenberg, Matz etc), box and folder number, and bring it with you.

All master classes and presentations on Friday will take place at either the Jarrell Lecture Hall, which is in the library itself, or in the Alumni House two buildings south of the library on College Avenue. Food is available until 3 pm at the food court of the Elliot University Center, which is next to the library. All these buildings are easily located on the interactive map referred to in the next paragraph.

Affordable parking for registration is available at the Walker Street Parking Deck. You can find an online campus maps at http://www.uncg.edu/online_map/2dmap/nameMap.htm. Click on the building name at the left column and the building will be highlighted for you on the map to the right. Printable maps are available at http://www.uncg.edu/online_map/index.html. For those arriving later on Friday, registration will also be possible at the opening concert at the West Market Street United Methodist Church. Directions to the church may be found at http://www.wmsumc.org/wmloc.htm. Use the entrance marked #1 for the concert.

All events on Saturday and Sunday will be taking place at the School of Music. Directions can be found at http://www.uncg.edu/mus/directions/directions.html. Those younger students who are registering for Saturday only will find a registration table just inside the School’s from entrance.

Those of you in the Cello Celebration Orchestra will be rehearsing on Friday from 12:15-2:15 in the Curry Auditorium. You can park in the Walker Parking Deck referred to in the bulleted directions below. On foot from the parking deck, go right two blocks on Stirling, and then left two blocks on Spring Garden Street. The Curry building is on your right, and the hall is at the back of the building on the first floor.

Rehearsals with accompanists for the Friday master classes will be scheduled between 9 and 11 in both Alumni House and Jarrell Lecture Hall in 15 minute intervals. We will contact you each individually with your rehearsal time.

Here are directions between important points. For directions to the hotels, please contact the hotel in question.

From the Airport to Library Registration:

• Take Bryan Blvd. until it merges with Benjamin Parkway (barely noticeable at the first light you encounter.)
• Approximately .2 miles after the merge, you will cross over Wendover Ave. After Wendover exits, take 2nd right (at 3rd light) on Aycock.
• Approx 1 mi to left at first light on Walker Avenue.
• Walker Ave parking deck is 2 blocks down on right.
• Before you pull in to the parking deck, look straight ahead and you will see the back of the library. Entrance is on the far side you can’t see.

From the Marriot and Biltmore Hotels to Library

• Take Friendly Avenue west about 1 mile.
• Cross Tate Street and West Lake Dr.
• Stay in left lane and make left hand merge (through a light) with Market Street
• Take 2nd left across divider (first merge is immediate, second not much further) on to S. Aycock access ramp.
• Merge left on to S. Aycock.
• Left at first light on Walker Avenue
• Walker Ave Parking Deck is 2 blocks down on right.
• Before you pull in to the parking deck, look straight ahead and some distance away you will see the back of the library, to the left of a brand new Elliot Center. Entrance is on the far side you can’t see.

From the Microtel to the Library:

• Head north on Wendover Avenue
• Take the exit for West Market Street, and turn right off the access road on to West Market.
• Go about 1 mile to a right on South Aycock access ramp, which merges soon after with S. Aycock. You are now heading south.
• Left at first light on Walker Avenue
• Walker Ave Parking Deck is 2 blocks down on right.
• Before you pull in to the parking deck, look straight ahead and some distance away you will see the back of the library, to the left of a brand new Elliot Center. Entrance is on the far side you can’t see.
