Small Jazz Groups- One Credit Hour

UNCG carries a number of small jazz groups (MUS 396M-01, MUS 696M-01), which vary in number from semester to semester. Currently, we have eight groups. If you are interested in playing in a small jazz combo, you must attend the informational meeting for small jazz groups which takes place during the first week of each semester. Usually this takes place during the first thursday evening of each semester in August and January. Each small jazz group is required to perform twice during each semester.

Each small group must meet once a week for an hour but are encouraged to play more.

Room 111 and room 140 are intended partially for small jazz combos. There is a full drum set, guitar and bass amplifiers, and a piano in both rooms. Drummers MUST bring a hi hat clutch, cymbals, and a snare drum with them to each rehearsal. Each member of the small jazz group will be put on a list in the library which will give them access to these rooms during off hour periods.
