Vocal Studies
The Vocal Division offers the following degree options:
- Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance
- Master of Music in Vocal Performance
- Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy
- Master of Music in Choral Conducting
- Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance
- Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting
Ensembles offered through the Vocal Studies Division include the highly select Chamber Singers, Glee Clubs, University Chorale and Opera Theatre. In addition to its opera workshop presentations, the School of Music mounts a major grand opera and one or two chamber operas each year. Each fall, the school and the theatre produce a complete staging of a major Broadway musical. Performance degrees are offered at all levels.

Vocal Ensembles
Chamber Singers
Our newest choral ensemble, this is a highly select group of approximately 16 singers consisting primarily of graduate students. Performing a wide variety of both choral and solo vocal literature, the ensemble is conducted by Welborn Young.
University Chorale
This select ensemble of approximately 40 singers is comprised primarily of juniors, seniors and graduate students. Often providing support for university functions, the Chorale performs a full range of literature including major works with orchestra. William Carroll is the conductor.
Women's Choir
A select ensemble of approximately 40 graduate and undergraduate women, the Women's Choir has often represented UNCG at a number of prestigious music conventions and civic occasions. The Women's Choir performs a wide variety of music for treble voices and is conducted by Welborn Young.
Men's Glee Club
This select ensemble of approximately 45 graduate and undergraduate men tours frequently and performs standard male chorus literature. In recent years, the Men's Glee Club has twice been the headliner for the biennial national convention of the Intercollegiate Male Chorus Association. The ensemble is conducted by Eric Poole.
Women's Glee Club
A relatively new choral organization, this ensemble of approximately 60 undergraduate women performs standard literature for the treble chorus. The ensemble tours annually and, on occasion, the two Glee Clubs perform together. The ensemble is conducted by Melodie Galloway.
