Alumni Profile

Welcome to the UNCG School of Nursing home page for alumni and friends.  Your interest in the School is important, and we hope the information contained in these pages helps you stay connected to the School of Nursing and UNCG.

The School of Nursing was officially founded in 1966 offering a baccalaureate program and expanded in 1976 with the graduate program, but nursing education has been an important part of UNCG throughout its distinguished history .  After World War II, the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (the former name of UNCG) offered a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to the many diploma program-prepared nurses who served the United States as military nurses during the war.  From 1957-1968, the university partnered with the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and pioneered North Carolina’s first associate degree in nursing program which graduated over 160 alumnae.  Over 4,000 graduates now hold BSN and MSN degrees from UNCG and in the Fall of 2005, we opened our doors to our first PhD in Nursing candidates. To learn more about the degrees and concentrations offered through the School of Nursing, please visit the web pages for the Undergraduate Programs and the Graduate Programs.
