Dr. Eileen Kohlenberg, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in the UNCG School of Nursing, was installed as the 48th president of the North Carolina Nurses Association in Raleigh on October 12th at the 100th annual convention. The North Carolina Nurses Association represents over 100,000 practicing nurses in North Carolina and has an active membership of over 3000 registered nurses. Dr. Kohlenberg will lead the group during the 2007-2009 biennium.
Other UNCG faculty and students who were recognized during the convention include the following. Ernest Grant, a UNCG alum, was installed as president-elect for the organization for a two year term. Jo Ann Smith, a current MSN Education Concentration student, received the Health Systems award for excellence in practice. Dr. Patricia Crane, an associate professor in the School of Nursing, received the Nursing Research award. Daria Kring, a UNCG doctoral student, was awarded a Mary Lewis Wyche scholarship, named in honor of the first president of the organization from 1902-1907.
