Mr. McGuire has over 30 years experience in technology commercialization with both industrial and university technologies. In his present position, he established the first technology commercialization function at University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He joined UNCG as the director of the Office of Technology Transfer in April, 2002.
Prior to his arrival at UNCG, Mr. McGuire was the director of the technology transfer operation at the University at Buffalo/SUNY in Buffalo, New York. At UB/SUNY he reengineered the technology transfer office and its practices leading to increased commercialization of UB/SUNY technologies.
For more than a quarter century Mr. McGuire was part of and eventually head of corporate international marketing and licensing at Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He was responsible for a portfolio of 150 licensees in 43 countries with royalty revenues in excess of $170 million annually. He was responsible for over 400 international sales representatives in worldwide marketing efforts for Westinghouse products and services.
Mr. McGuire serves as the chairman of the board of directors for the Piedmont Triad Film Commission. Mr. McGuire has a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Licensing Executive Society, the Association of University Technology Managers and the Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma.
