A technology transfer professional in the OTT will contact the inventor(s)
to schedule an initial interview to discuss the invention disclosure. Relevant
drawings, lab notebooks and/or working models are excellent resources to bring
to this meeting to further enable the OTT staff to understand your concept.
The evaluation process involves a patent and literature search to evaluate
the uniqueness of the invention and a marketability survey of the literature
and industry contacts.
The goal of these efforts is to determine if your invention
is patentable (new, useful and not an obvious improvement on an existing invention)
and licensable (will a company pay UNCG for the right to commercialize the
invention. To learn more about the mission, processes, policies and find access
to forms used by OTT in the Technology Transfer process please visit our website
at : www.uncg.edu/ott. Our office will be happy to answer questions or concerns
you may have regarding your invention or innovation.
