• Office opens April 1, 2002
• 3 prior patent applications at UNCG
• First 14 months of operation staff consisted of
– Director and
– 2 graduate students (Licensing Assistants)
• In June 2003 OTT added a full time Assistant to the Director

First 3 years spent:
• Establishing a presence on campus
• Setting up a process
• Developing internal policies, procedures, and techniques
– UNCG Patent Policy: 50/50 split with inventors
• Meeting or exceeding all goals including number of licenses, invention disclosures, start-up companies, and patent applications
