Faculty Initiated Research Opportunities
DESCRIPTION: Examining the relationship between personality factors (i.e., optimism, hardiness, self-esteem) and coping in sport and exercise populations. Specifically looking at how certain personality traits are associated with certain types of coping responses (i.e., avoidance, active, problem solving) and what implications that might have upon both mental (i.e., depression, anxiety, injury-related distress) and physical (i.e., risk of injury, rehabilitation adherence, recovery/return to play) health outcomes. Research/scholarship projects would assist with manuscript preparation (e.g., literature reviews, preparing tables/figures, etc.) for sport psychology, sports medicine/athletic training, or health/positive psychology audiences.
