Faculty Initiated Research Opportunities

DESCRIPTION:  The AfterWords Project analyzes the resettlement stories told by Holocaust survivors who immigrated to the US (focusing on those who settled in North Carolina). We work with transcripts of survivor interviews conducted by the faculty mentor and with video testimonials viewable at UNC's Visual History Archive. The project seeks to discover how survivors reclaimed their identities after the Holocaust and the ways these methods of identity formation become manifest in their first-person stories.
