Four primary sources of financial assistance are offered to graduate students: Graduate Assistantships; NCCCMA Scholarship; Greensboro Foundations Scholarships; Paid Internships.
GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS
The Department of Political Science offers graduate assistantships to a limited number of full-time graduate students. Such students must take at least 6 graduate credits. Application for assistantships is made by letter to the Graduate Director, Department of Political Science, UNCG. Students interested in an assistantship for the fall should apply by March 15.
NCCCMA SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship for a full-time student interested in a city or county management career is also awarded annually by the North Carolina City and County Management Association.
GREENSBORO FOUNDATIONS SCHOLARSHIPS
ELIGIBILITY: MPA students or graduate students enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nonprofit Management who work (Full-time or Part-time) for a government or nonprofit (501(c)3) agency in Guilford County. Students must be enrolled for at least 3 credit hours. Preference will be given to students who are not reimbursed by their agencies. Scholarship awards are competitive and will be based on considerations of merit and need.
AMOUNT OF FUNDING:
APPLICATION: Applicants should complete the Greensboro Foundations Scholarship Form and a single-page statement of purpose (include name and date) in pursuing MPA or Certificate course work. Attach a current resume and include job title, agency, and address. Submit to the graduate director, Kenneth A. The University maintains an Office of Financial Aid, and students needing financial assistance (other than assistantships) should contact this office for work-study assistance and student loans.
