Political Awareness
Club The
Political Awareness Club seeks to develop awareness of pertinent
issues in political science, including international, national,
regional, state, and local politics and policies. Through lectures,
films, panel discussions, informal presentations, and social
interaction among members, the PAC functions as a comprehensive and
unbiased forum through which interested persons can better
comprehend and digest current events.
PAC Constitution
Article I - Name and Purpose
The Political Awareness Club is a non-partisan student club intended to promote
interest, conversation, and activities in politics. PAC will sponsor speakers and events which
promote political awareness at the international, federal, state, and local levels. PAC will
always strive to encourage awareness of current events.
Article II - Membership
Members of PAC must meet the following requirements:
- 1. be a student at UNCG paying student activity fees
- 2. attend at least two meetings or functions during the academic year
Membership is open to all UNCG students without regard to race, religion, creed, national
origin, gender, sexual orientation, or handicap.
Article III - Officers, Qualifications, and Duties
There shall be four constitutionally mandated officer positions for PAC: president,
vice-president, treasurer, and secretary. Any member may hold an office if they have been
a member of UNCG in good standing for one academic year. Duties required of each of the
mandated PAC officers are as follows:
- President -- The President is responsible for calling and chairing meetings.
- Vice-President -- The vice-president will fulfill the obligations of the president when
the president is not available.
- Treasurer -- The treasurer shall be responsible for the proper and accurate keeping
of the treasure at all times.
- Secretary -- The secretary shall be responsible for taking attendance at meetings
and recording the minutes.
All non-specified duties may be handled by any PAC member in good standing.
Article IV - Elections
Officers are elected by a majority vote of the members in good standing of PAC at the
last meeting of the Spring semester. Terms shall last the duration of one academic year,
including the following summer. Officers may be impeached by petition from the members
in which two-thirds vote is required. If membership is less than five members the president
of the previous year will retain his position and can appoint the officers. If no president is
available, then the faculty advisor may appoint one.
Article V - Dues
No dues shall be levied by PAC. However, members of PAC may have to pay to take
part in certain events.
Article VI - Meetings
Please consult the PAC bulletin board on the second floor of Graham or the
PAC homepage for information on
meetings. Meetings will be made according to the availability of the members.
Article VII - Amendments
Any member may initiate an amendment to the operating procedures or constitution
of PAC. Amendments will be discussed in an open forum. If a two-thirds vote is received
on the petition it will then go to the president for validation. The proposed change will then
be presented to the appropriate student government committee.
Article VIII - Faculty Advisors
The faculty advisor of PAC must be a full-time faculty member of the UNCG Political
Science Department. The faculty advisor may serve in his position until he resigns or is
impeached by petition requiring two-thirds vote of the members.
