New PSC Concentration Begins in the Fall

A prelaw concentration was recently approved for the political science major, beginning in Fall 2007. In addition to the four course requirements in the major, students will complete Introduction to Law, and then choose four additional courses from several offered in the department. Dr. Susan Johnson will serve as the prelaw advisor for students in the concentration.

Commencement 2008

Graduating Political Science majors should set aside Friday, May 16, 3:00 p.m. (after the 10:00 a.m. Commencement ceremony) for our annual Political Science graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be held in the Recital Hall, in the Music Building. We will distribute diploma covers and recognize special achievements. The diplomas themselves will be mailed by UNCG later. This is always a special time for parents and other relatives, and we encourage all seniors to participate. Your family and friends are invited. A light reception in the Atrium will follow the ceremony.

MPA Program is Reaccredited!

The Master of Public Affairs program has been reaccredited for the full seven-year period by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA). This decision was the culmination of a year-long self-study process and a site visit by outside experts. Begun in 1976 and continuously accredited since 1993, the MPA program is the only degree accredited by NASPAA in the Piedmont Triad region. Congratulations!

New Scholarships Granted by Area Foundations

The MPA program and its students are the recipients of grants for scholarships and internships totaling over $150,000 from five area foundations - Cemala, Bryan, Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, Weaver and Toleo (See press release). For more information, see the MPA News page. For an application go to: Greensboro Foundations Scholarship Form.
