The UNCG Psychology Clinic is an outpatient facility offering affordable, high quality mental health services to the Triad area community. The Psychology Clinic is a non-profit organization affiliated with the UNCG Psychology Department offering a full range of short-term therapy services for adults, adolescents, and children. Services include

• individual, family, and group therapy
• diagnostic evaluation
• assessments for learning disabilities in children, adolescents, adults and for advanced learning placement in the schools
• psychiatric consultation and medication management for active psychotherapy clients
• services available for bilingual families through interpreters or bilingual clinicians

We place an emphasis on training and services that are based on current research, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, behavior management, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. The Psychology Clinic is staffed by advanced graduate clinicians in UNCG’s APA-approved doctoral program in clinical psychology. Each clinician is closely supervised by a member of the UNCG Clinical faculty, all of whom are Licensed Psychologists in the state of North Carolina.  To schedule an initial appointment, call the Clinic at (336) 334-5662 between the hours of 8:30 am and 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30 am to 7:00 pm on Fridays.

What to expect:
When calling to schedule an initial appointment, you will be asked to provide general information over the phone about your current concerns and about the services you are seeking. At your first visit, you will be asked to complete paperwork, fill out questionnaires about symptoms you may be experiencing, and meet with one of our clinicians to provide more detailed information about the history of your current concerns. The goal of this first visit is to determine whether the services we offer will address your concerns.

Once you are assigned to a therapist, you will discuss your goals for the evaluation or treatment, and you will be expected to attend appointments at a frequency recommended by your therapist. Clients involved in therapy are typically expected to work on skills outside of the therapy session (i.e., short “homework” assignments). Our empirically-based therapeutic approaches are short-term and collaborative in nature – the therapist and client work together on treatment planning and monitoring progress.
