USCIS imposes fees for filing all immigration-related petitions. As the application is filed by the employer, on behalf of the employee, the hiring department is generally responsible for the payment of filing fees which must be submitted with the employment-based visa petition if necessary. The Office of the Provost will notify the department to obtain a check as the case proceeds. Fees for applications for dependents, as well as premium processing when deemed an unnecessary expense, are the responsibility of the employee. All checks should be made payable to the Department of Homeland Security. Below are the current costs of typical petitions:
I-129, Petition for Temporary Worker (H and O visas)- $325, plus $500 anti-fraud fee for new H petitions
I-907, Request for Premium Processing- $1,225
I-140, Immigrant Petition for an Alien Worker- $580
I-539, Application to Extend/Change Status- $325
