There are currently six physical therapy programs in North Carolina. The programs at UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, East Carolina University, Elon College, and Western Carolina University offer entry-level Masters degrees. Winston-Salem State University offers a BS in Physical Therapy. Students seeking a masters degree in physical therapy may major in any academic area but will be expected to complete a core of science courses. The minimum grade point average for admission is 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Volunteer experience in physical therapy is required for admission. Requirements for the MPT generally include these courses:
Additional recommendations include computer literacy and course work in biomechanics, and genetics. Students should contact the programs directly to ensure that they meet current requirements for each school.
