The course will serve as an applied field experience in an athletic training setting. ESS 697 Field Practicum in Exercise and Sport Science (3 credits, taken twice for a total of 6 credits) Must be taken for 3 hours in each of the last two semesters of the student’s program of study. The course will serve as the student’s capstone experience in athletic training by integrating the academic course work of the previous semesters into clinical field experiences as students apply their knowledge base in an athletic training setting. Non-credit Professional Development Requirements In addition to the 46 credit hours of course work, students are required to gain approximately two weeks of clinical experience during assigned pre-season athletic practices during August of each year in the program. Students are also required to attend weekly in-services and journal club sessions during each of the fall and spring semesters in the program.
