Services for Students Office of Orientation and Family Programs (245 Elliott University Center) The Office of Orientation and Family Programs coordinates a variety of programs which bring together faculty, administrators, and upperclass student leaders to welcome new students to the campus and to assist with the transition process into the UNCG community. Programs have been designed to meet the needs of freshmen, transfer, and adult students, as well as parents and family members. Orientation activities include academic advising and registration for classes, tours of campus, information sessions, small-group activities, and campus resource fairs. Foreign Language placement exams are also given at this time. Students entering UNCG in the fall semester are required to participate in Spartan Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR), which occurs in June, along with Rawkin' Welcome Week prior to the beginning of fall classes in August. Likewise, orientation programs are planned for students entering UNCG in January, prior to the beginning of spring semester classes. Go to www.uncg.edu/ori for more information. |
