Commencement Attendance Memorandum to Faculty

TO:        UNCG Faculty and Emerita & Emeritus Faculty

FROM:   Daniel Winkler, Faculty Marshal

RE:        May Commencement, Friday, May 9, 2014

Please participate in the May commencement ceremony as it is a milestone in the lives of our graduates and a momentous occasion for the entire university. Graduates often let us know how much it meant to them to have had their professors present to witness their commencement.

This commencement will adhere to the same general structure as past May commencements. The ceremony will be held on Friday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m., in the Greensboro Coliseum.

Faculty Attendance

All faculty members (active and emeritus) are encouraged to participate in the commencement ceremony. Those who march in the processional are expected to wear academic regalia. The university bookstore's deadline for faculty regalia rental is March 21.

Because of the special seating arrangements, we must know how many of the faculty plan to participate. Visit http://web.uncg.edu/reg/Forms/rsvp/Faculty.asp and complete the online commencement participation form by Monday, April 28, 2014, to let us know whether or not you plan to march in the processional.

A map of the Coliseum Complex that shows the faculty parking and assembly areas can be found at http://www.uncg.edu/reg/Com/ColiseumInfo.html. If you have any special needs or concerns about the accessibility of any area, please e‐mail Lisa Henline, lmhenlin@uncg.edu.

Assembly and Procession

The faculty will assemble in the Atrium beginning at 9:45 a.m. Please be robed, in line, and ready to march at 10:00 a.m. The faculty will be seated in special sections to the left and right of the graduates, who will be seated in chairs on the arena floor.

You may safely leave your belongings in the assembly room, which will be secured during the ceremony.

Parking

Parking at the Coliseum is free to participants and their guests. Because there are no other scheduled events at the Coliseum on commencement morning, parking passes are not needed.

In summary, I welcome you to UNCG's May commencement. If you have any questions, please e‐mail Lisa Henline at lmhenlin@uncg.edu. Please visit http://CommencementCentral.uncg.edu for more information.

I look forward to seeing you at the Greensboro Coliseum on Friday, May 9.
