Operational Units
Administrative Services
Administrative Services is responsible for general administrative functions for the URO: personnel, budget, short-term and long-term planning and research and development activities. This unit consists of five staff: the University Registrar; the Associate University Registrar for Communications; the Associate Registrar for University Services; the Associate Registrar for Technology; and the Office Assistant.
Classroom Scheduling
In conjunction with planning and developing the semester schedule of courses, the URO is responsible for scheduling classrooms for faculty instructional use. Departments receive detailed information regarding classroom scheduling procedures and requirements along with initial semester schedule packets.
Communications
This unit coordinates publication of the following documents, for print and Web distribution:
Fall and Spring Schedule of Courses; annual Undergraduate Bulletin; Commencement Programs and Prompt Books; University Directory, and the UNCG Curriculum Planning Guide for North Carolina Community College Transfer Students.
Communications maintains the URO Web site and two intranets, ShareNet and Officenet. This area is also responsible for preparing instructional materials for all URO services and activities, such as registration and commencement.
Degree Evaluation (CAPP)
This unit is charged with automating the degree audit process. See CAPP.
Graduation Services
The Commencement Coordinator, in conjunction with the UNCG Commencement and Ceremonies Planning Committee and the Commencement Steering Committee, coordinates the planning and production of the two University commencements held in May and in December.
Information Services
This unit provides general information through in-person and telephone contacts to prospective, current, and former students, alumni, the general public, faculty, other UNCG staff, and government and other state and national agencies. Information Services also provides a variety of additional services: transcripts (in-person requests); enrollment verification for currently enrolled students.
Information Station
This division is located at the permanent help desk in the center of the Mossman Building common area. The staff in this area are trained generalists who provide prompt, efficient, and warm service to those visiting the University. Responsibilities for this division include greeting visitors, answering a wide variety of basic questions for students and other University visitors, and providing directions as needed.

Records Services
The chief responsibility of Records Services is the maintenance of the official academic record, which involves recording grade changes, study abroad/special exam/independent study, and extension work. This unit also processes name changes for current students, athletic and honors certification, and written/faxed transcript requests. Additionally this unit is responsible for processing undergraduate applications for graduation and maintaining the semester degree file. For each term, Record Services orders, proofs, and mails diplomas to undergraduates who have successfully completed their degrees.
Registration Services
This unit is responsible for coordinating all registration processing for new, returning, and continuing students, including late registrations, drops, and reinstatements. Consortium and inter-institutional registrations are also handled by this area. This area also handles processing of mid-term unsatisfactory grades and final grades. Registration Services also plays a major role in developing the Fall and Spring semester schedule of courses and maintenance of the online schedule throughout the semester.

Transfer Articulation Services
This unit is responsible for determining the number of semester hours of credit for previous college-level work that can be transferred to UNCG and applied toward a bachelor's degree. Transfer Articulation Services processes transfer credit equivalencies and produces a Transfer Equivalency Worksheet for students who are transferring to UNCG. In conjunction with these services, the University Registrar's Office maintains an up-to-date list of transfer equivalencies for courses taken in the North Carolina Community College system and at selected four-year institutions in North Carolina. Transfer Articulation Services also processes approval of transfer credits for UNCG students who plan to attend. See also Transfer Information.
Technical Support
Tasks for this unit include generation of ad hoc and specialized reports extracted from data maintained on Banner; preparation and coordination of MIS requests; maintenance of a number of automated processes such as the classroom scheduling system; analysis of registration and other data; general office technical support in the areas of hardware/software upgrades and use.
Veterans Services
The Veterans Services area of the URO processes veterans benefits and certifications, and is available to work with eligible students to complete and process the required forms. See also Veterans Services Information.
