Drop/Add for Spring 2010 November 30, 2009–January 25, 2010 Schedule adjustment for spring 2010 will extend from November 30, 2009 through January 25, 2010. This period allows students to modify their schedules without having such transactions recorded on their academic records. See registration instructions for drop/add instructions. Continuing students must use the same advising code received in October 2009 for spring 2010 drop/add processing. This advising code is used for making any registration adjustments throughout the semester. Advising and Advising Codes Advising codes are required to access the registration menu, including the drop/add screens. New six-digit codes are issued to all students for each semester. Previous semester codes cannot be used to access current semester registration. New first-year and transfer students are assigned and meet with advisors during their initial orientation/registration process; transfer students are also encouraged to register during registration-by-appointment and should seek the guidance of their advisors regarding course selection. Continuing students are responsible for making appointments with their advisors during the advising periods that occur in conjunction with early April and November registrations. See the Registration Calendar. Graduate students in certain programs must also see advisors to obtain advising codes. Check your electronic personal data (EPD) message to determine if advising is required for your program. Most graduate students will find a preassigned advising code in their EPD. If no code is present, contact your advisor. If you misplace your advising code, contact your advisor or major department office. Adding Closed or Restricted Courses To add any class that is closed or restricted, you must obtain special permission from the department or instructor. Forms of special permission include special departmental stamps and the instructor’s written signature on an official drop/add form (available from the University Registrar’s Office and departmental offices). A process that allows the instructor to override his or her own courses online is available, after which you may register on the Web. If your instructor does not opt to use this method, you may have your drop/add form processed in the University Registrar’s Office, 180 Mossman. Withdrawal from All Courses Students who must withdraw from the University may do so by dropping all courses via the Web through UNCGenie. Students who drop all courses are considered to be withdrawn from the University and must seek reactivation or readmission through Undergraduate Admissions or The Graduate School to return to school in subsequent terms. See the Military Call-Up Policy that governs withdrawal of students called to active duty. Auditing Courses: Currently Enrolled Students
Auditing Courses: Visiting Auditors A person who does not wish to be officially enrolled at UNCG should contact the Division of Continual Learning (336/315-7044) for information about auditing courses. A fee of $50 is charged to non-students auditing a course for which no record will be established. Persons who are not currently enrolled at UNCG but who desire a record of enrollment as an auditor should follow regular admission, registration, and fee payment outlined previously.
