For students with a two-year associate degree entering UNCG wishing to major in music, all credits will initially be entered as GEC or Elective.

Every incoming student must complete a performance audition for acceptance into the major as well as take placement tests in piano and music theory as appropriate. Depending upon the outcome, those courses may be taken out of elective status and used to fulfill program requirements.

Most students with associate degrees are able to complete all program requirements in six or seven semesters at UNCG.
