Receiving Credit for Military Training

Currently, most veterans receive approximately 6 elective credit hours toward graduation for completing basic training, but more may be awarded depending on training completed in the military. In order to receive more than the basic 6 hours, the student must contact the Transfer Articulation Department located in the University Registrar's Office (URO) AFTER their 6 credit hours have been applied. Receiving more than the standard 6 hours will take some work on the part of the student in collaboration with the URO and the student's major academic department, so be prepared!

Steps for receiving credit for military training at UNCG:

  1. Request an official American Council on Education transcript from applicable military branch listed below
  2. Have transcript sent to:

    University Registrar's Office
    Attn: Transfer Articulation
    UNCG
    PO Box 26170
    Greensboro, NC 27402-6170
