The Warren Ashby Residential College has a diverse faulty that come from the many departments of the larger university.  Faculty change every semester.  Find here a little information about our current faculty and others who have taught in WARC.


Rebecca Adams, Professor (Ph.D., University of Chicago, 1983), Department of Sociology.  Director of Graduate Studies.  Most recent teaching and publications are in the areas of:  Friendship, Gerontology, and Qualitative Methods.

WARC has classes each semester from departments across the wider university.  Our faculty is constantly changing -- coming and going -- as their department schedules allow them to teach in the College.  Below are some former WARC faculty that continue to be close to and participate in courses in the College.

Kathleen Ahern, Ph. D, Associate Professor of Russian (Language, Literature, Culture)

Robert Calhoon, Ph. D, Professor, Department of History (Early American history, southern religious history, American Revolution, 18th century cultural)

Tracey Howell, Lecturer, M.A. in Mathematics (Business calculus, college algebra, intermediate algebra, contemporary topics in mathematics)

Jeanne R. Irwin-Olson, M.Ed., Assistant Director for Wellness Programs

Sara Littlejohn, Assistant Director of the University Writing Center for Fall 2005. She is working on her Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric with interests in Food Theory, Cultural Studies, and Twentieth Century British Literature

John D. Loftin, Ph.D., Religion, published a number of scholarly articles and two books related to American Indian religion and world history of religions.  Part-time professor at UNCG and full-time lawyer.

Matthew McKinnon,  Ph.D. Religious Studies.

Ann Berry Somers, Lecturer, Department of Biology
