Meet Some Recent Majors

Issa Gakou
I am a senior with a dual major in French and International and Global Studies. I love French and I am enjoying my French classes here in UNCG. I have been to Paris and Lille. I would like to use my knowledge in French to work with the United Nations or any other international non government organization. I studied in Canada (Brock University) in Fall 2007 and I took 3 French Literature classes. When I was living in Senegal, I taught English as a second language and presently I am the French tutor.
Megan Wilson
I am a junior at UNCG. I am a Dance Major, with a second major in French. I will be studying in France next semester at the University of Angers.
Brant Justin-Lee Miller
Brant Justin-Lee Miller I started studying French in high school in 2001 and really fell in love with the language, most things francophone, and lingustics in general. I hope to be able to use my study of the language to work with organizations like the Peace Corps or the U.N. in order to make an impact on the world and improve the lives of many.
Gloria Amerson
Gloria Amerson I'm a freshman French Education major from Connecticut and I'm currently taking Intermediate French 204 as my fourth year of French. Last summer I went on a school trip to France and I got to see Paris, Tours, Chartres, Mont-St. Michel, Versailles, Normandy, and St.Malo. I definitely want to study abroad for a semester. French is just the most beautiful language and I'm so excited for the opportunities that UNCG is offering for French students!
Rachel Endsley
Rachel Endsley I'm a junior French major, and within the first year of my studies I had a chance to study abroad in the Angers summer program. It's a great opportunity for those that cannot devote an entire semester or year to studying abroad, and it afforded me a chance to meet and work with wonderful people I would have otherwise never met. Back at UNCG the French faculty's varied backgrounds and areas of scholarship have made for some very interesting classes and experiences.
Souleymane Bah
Anna Rozzo
Anna Rozzo Why am I taking French? First of all it's a beautiful language with delicate subtleties, it is spoken in various regions around the world (not just France!), it is the second official language for the UN, and I am interested in teaching English as a second language so I think it is important for me to speak a second language myself. I chose to study abroad (2003-2004 La Rochelle, France) and (2006-2007 Granada, Spain) in order to learn the languages by immersion and to better understand cultural perspectives.
Megan Taylor
MeganTaylor

My first experience with French was being born into a French family in New Orleans. From that moment I was so intrigued that I would spend hours listening to all of my family members talk. In high school I took French but realized I wanted to learn so much more of this beautiful language. Last year after little hesitation I declared myself a French major and am thoroughly glad that I did. In doing so, I feel as if I'm carrying on my family's history and nothing could compare to that.
