To receive consideration, applicants must have declared French as their primary or second major, and must demonstrate a GPA of 3.5. | Cooper To Present At Sixteenth Century Studies Conference In Miami |
| Collin Cooper's abstract, "Writing Politically: A study of nouvelles 4 and 69 from Marguerite de Navarre's L'Heptaméron" has been accepted to the Sixteenth Century Studies Conference graduate student panel, "Women's Political Writings." The conference will take place in October 2008. The panel is co-sponsored by the English and Romance Languages departments at the University of Miami. Last November, Collin Cooper presented a paper entitled "Depictions of Monarchy in Marguerite de Navarre's L'Heptaméron" at the Fifth Annual Massachusetts Center for Renaissance Studies Graduate Conference at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. |

Anna Rozzo received the University Student Excellence Award on April 2nd, 2007. She spent the academic year of 2006-2007 in Spain (Granada)to bring her Spanish close to the high level of her French. While totally immersed in Spanish, Anna was able to compose an entry for the Léopold Sedar Senghor French poetry contest organized by the French Consulate in Atlanta, and her poem (which follows) was selected for second prize: Cher étranger, Quand j'ai tout, je désire d'autres choses Tandis que toi, étranger Quand tu n'as rien, tu désires les choses Alors, de nous deux, qui est chez soi ? |

| Monica Scovell received the Outstanding French Major award on May 15, 2007. A double major in Communication Studies and French, Monica has earned membership in the premier national honor society for the liberal arts, Phi Beta Kappa, the national French honor society, Pi Delta Phi, and the honor society of the National Communication Association, Lambda Pi Eta. |
