The Graduate School Application procedures are facilitated through the UNCG Graduate School's Web Page at www.uncg.edu/grs. Prospective applicants may also request a Graduate Catalog and necessary official forms from the Graduate School. All supporting documents including completed application form, transcripts, three letters of recommendation, and Graduate Record Exam scores, must be available to the University at the time of consideration of the application. In addition to evidence of a completed undergraduate major or second major (minimum 24 hrs. above the intermediate level of language study) in the language area, all applicants will be asked to submit the following directly tot he Department:
The Department of Romance Languages offers graduate assistanceships and awards to a limited number of full-time graduate students. Such students must take at least 6 graduate credits per semester. Duties may include classroom teaching, work on the International Poetry Review, work with the study abroad programs, research, or other work.
Students wishing to be considered for financial assistance should complete their applications by April 15th although applicants for admission only may be considered beyond that date. A limited number of assistantship and awards are available. Assistantships require service to the Department, either in teaching, research assistance, or other assigned responsibilities. Students must have completed a minimum of 18 hours of graduate level work in the discipline before they are eligible to become Teaching Assistants. Early submissions are essential for those seeking a tuition waiver. Applicants intereseted in pursuing an M.Ed. with a concentration in French or Spanish should apply to that program through the School of Education. The application materials itemized above will be required from M.Ed. applicants as well.
