4. Apply for admission to UNCG Teacher Education in
The Teachers Academy (319 Curry Building) by the end of the sophomore year
or upon earning junior status (completion of 60 semester hours of course
work). Students must be admitted to Teacher education by the last day of the fall semester in order to be eligible to student teach the following fall, or by the last day of the spring semester in order to be eligible to student teach the following spring.

Transfer students who are otherwise qualified (in terms of the 60 semester hour requirement) must have completed at least 12 semester hours at UNCG. The 12 semester hours shall be waived for any transfer student who meets all of the aforementioned requirements to Teacher Education. The grade point average for transfer students will be the transferable GPA as computed by the Office of Admissions. |
5. Request a course audit from the Office of Student
Academic Services (159 Mossman Building) during the first semester of your
junior year. Discuss the results with your advisor during course
registration.
6. Apply for admission to Student Teaching in The
Teachers Academy (321 Curry Building) between January 15 and February
15 of the year before you plan to student teach. Student teaching
is offered during the Spring semester only. You must have been admitted
to Teacher Education to be eligible to apply for Student Teaching.

7. Apply for the Spanish or French Specialty Area PRAXIS
Exams early in the Fall semester of the senior year. Please have
PRAXIS Specialty Area Exams completed by March of the senior year.
8. Complete the Piedmont Alliance form, which can be
obtained along with the student teaching application from Melanie Nickerson in the School of Education (321 Curry Building).
9. Begin a Credential File in Career Services (208
Foust Building) during the semester prior to student teaching. Check
the status of your Credential File periodically.
10. Apply for Teacher Licensure in The Teachers Academy (319
Curry Building) one to two weeks prior to degree completion.
