  • To provide practical training in the basic skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing
  • To promote those values in the liberal arts tradition that derive particularly from the study of language, literature and culture
  • To increase understanding of language as structure and process
  • To provide an enlightening encounter with cultures and modes of thought different from one's own

The Department of Romance Languages is pleased to offer a program in Italian with four semesters of language study.

Undergraduate courses in Italian language are offered every semester for the beginning and intermediate student.

Completion of the four-semester sequence in Italian will satisfy the foreign language requirement and will prepare students for study abroad in Italy. For information on study abroad opportunities, please contact the International Programs Center at 336-334-5404.
