Gaurav Dave was born and raised in Mumbai, India. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Pune, India and worked as an emergency room (E.R.) physician in Mumbai, before coming to the U.S. in 2004. He attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and completed a Masters in Public Health in 2006 with a concentration in community health. Currently he is completing his final year as a Dr.P.H. doctoral candidate with a concentration in community-based prevention research and evaluation at UNCG. As a student at UNCG, Gaurav's work experience included research development coordinator for a stroke prevention research initiative with Forsyth Medical Center and Moses Cone Hospital, associate evaluator for the Carolina Healthy Adult Transition Project with the N.C. Department of Public Health and research assistant for the family planning and male health training center. Currently he is a senior research analyst and lead evaluator at our center and works on projects all over U.S., including HRSA-funded Newborn Screening and Sickle Cell Disease Program. Much of his interests and research has been in cardiovascular diseases, hemoglobinopathies and community-based evaluation. He is experienced in grant writing, community-based evaluation, research design and development, conceptual and analytical methodology and statistical analysis.
