The Office of Research and Economic Development provides intramural research support in the form of competitive grants and awards. These funds are to be used to initiate or enhance research, scholarship, and creative activity. There are several types of intramural funding.
New Faculty Research Grants - These grants are awarded to full-time, untenured, tenure-track faculty below the rank of professor, clinical faculty, research faculty and academic professional faculty within their first three years of appointment.
New Faculty Summer Excellence Research Awards - These awards are summer salary awarded to full-time, untenured, tenure-track faculty below the rank of professor, clinical faculty, research faculty and academic professional faculty in the first three years of appointment and are used exclusively for summer salary.
Regular Faculty Research Grants - These grants are awarded to full-time tenured or tenure-track, clinical faculty, research faculty and academic professional faculty.
Regular Faculty Summer Excellence Research Awards - These awards are awarded to full-time tenured or untenured, tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty, research faculty and academic professional faculty and are used exclusively for summer salary.
Scholars' Travel Fund - The Scholars' Travel Fund (STF) provides faculty members with supplemental travel funds to support presentation of their research, scholarship, or creative activity, to serve as chairpersons, to participate as panelists, or to contribute in other appropriate manners at scholarly meetings.
Subsidies in Support of Publication, Media Development, and Exhibitions - The Office of Research and Economic Development provides support to supplement charges associated with publications of books, development of media, exhibition and performance charges, and page charges for publishing manuscripts.
