Valera Francis has principal responsibility for all pre-award grant and contract management activities at the University. As director, she assists the Associate Provost for Research and Public/Private Sector Partnerships in the formulation of university policies and procedures involving research and has overall responsibility for routine daily research support operations, office administration, personnel actions and budgetary requirements within the Office of Sponsored Programs.

Charna Howson works with faculty and staff to develop and conceptualize sponsored projects, identify and research potential sponsors, obtain applications and guidelines, shape proposals, and submit materials to sponors in either hard copy or a variety of electronic formats. She also manages production of the OSP Newsletter, selection of electronic sponsor databases, COS Faculty Expertise profiles, distribution of funding announcements, and requests for project specific sponsor searches.
The Assistant Director is responsible for all post-award activities. This includes, but is not limited to, processing awards, coordinating requests for assumption of risk, and initiating/negotiating contracts and subcontracts.

Chris Davis oversees the green folder proposal routing process making sure all necessary forms are accounted
for, have been signed by all necessary parties, and procedures have been completed by the project submission
deadline. When requested he makes the required copies for both the sponsor and the PI and mails the needed
materials to these individuals. While the proposals are routed throughout the Office of Research Services he
is responsible for tracking the green folder to ensure that everything has been completed by the project mailing
deadline.

Tisha Wallace is responsible for the day to day oversight of the OSP database. She prepares the monthly and fiscal year end submission and award statistics. She writes special reports as needed based on submissions and award data. She works with faculty to register them with the agencies that require electronic submission of proposals. Tisha is also responsible for the office computer hardware and she acts as the intermediary for OSP and the campus IT department.
Kay Canady

Kay Canady is responsible for the day to day oversight of all OSP activities. She manages financial records and transactions pertaining to OSP activities, managing budgets and account transfers. Kay administers the OSP personnel program, analyzing the need for support staff, interviewing, training and developing orientation programs.
