Mini-Interview
with Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality Management Department Head, Dr.
Stuart J. Schleien
| [Interviewer]: |
Tell us a little about yourself. |
| [SJS]: | First and foremost, I am a husband and best friend to my wife, Dana, of 18 years, and father to two beautiful daughters, Jenna (14) and Alexa (11). I have lived in Greensboro and served as Department Head at UNCG for the past 9 years. I have enjoyed both, the university and city, immensely. Prior to moving to North Carolina, I was a professor at the University of Minnesota for 15 years. |
| [Interviewer]:
|
What do you like to do? |
| [SJS]: | By far, my most enjoyable activity is spending time with my family. I enjoy camping, walking trails, biking, swimming, and watching movies, to name a few. I typically run 3 - 5 miles every day. I am also an avid tennis player. |
| [Interviewer]: | Why should students come to UNCG to study in Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality Management? |
| [SJS]: | UNCG is a mid-sized university, located in the beautiful city of Greensboro. You will find our faculty to be a collection of warm and caring individuals, and some of the finest teachers and mentors that you will ever meet. There is a good deal of research and grant writing taking place here, and a large amount of interdisciplinary scholarship. In addition to a great department, we are on a very dynamic campus, with excellent recreational and sports opportunities, and a great student recreation center. The climate is exceptional, with extremely long spring and fall seasons (remember, I moved here from Minnesota!). It is a joy to be at this great university. Come see for yourself! |
