Student Affairs Awards Program

On Monday April 13th the Staff Development Committee hosted the fifth annual Student Affairs Staff Awards Program in the Cone Ballroom.  Highlights of the program included a performance by the UNCG Sapphires, a women’s a cappella musical group performing original versions of contemporary songs, and a slide show presentation of the awards nominees.

The Division of Student Affairs traditionally presents three awards each year – Unsung Hero, Team Player and Employee of the Year.  This year the thirteen nominees for each of the awards included:  Brooks Graham, Jood Schachtschneider, Colleen Burford, Joe Gullo, Funda Mills and William Parrish for Unsung Hero; Joe Gullo, Megan Delph, Cassandra Foy and Michelle Stanley for Team Player; Jennifer Whitney, Kim Clark and Tony Abruzzi for Employee of the Year.

Unsung Hero: Brooks Graham
Dr. Kim Sousa-Peoples presented the Unsung Hero Award to Brooks Graham.  Brooks is the founding director of the Office for Adult Students.  Her nomination praised her dedication and the visibility her persistent and eloquent voice has given the ever-growing population of adult students attending UNCG.

Team Player: Cassandra Foy
Brad Johnson presented the Team Player Award to Cassandra Foy.  Cassandra is the Nurse Supervisor in Student Health Services.  Her nomination highlighted her years of service, her “student first” attitude in providing medical services and her dedication to staff members.

 

Kim Clark

Employee of the Year: Kim Clark
Dr. Jen Day Shaw presented the Employee of the Year Award to Kim Clark.  Kim is the Associate Director of Campus Recreation.  Kim’s nomination specifically highlighted her willingness to go beyond the call of duty and her broad involvement in the Division of Student Affairs and in the UNCG community.  She was specifically cited as the epitome of an excellent “University citizen.”
