Professional Development Fund Recipients 2003

Linda Faber Linda Faber, Office of Student Life, Manager or Patron Services was awarded $1,002.00 in Staff Development funds to help her attend the INTIX International convention in Philadelphia in January. Linda expects to improve services, increase ticket sales, and bring herself up-to-date in the world of software as a result of attending this convention. She says “This institution has so many wonderful and exciting events going on and if I can help promote them and get the word out to potential patrons, the conference will have been well worth the time and money.”

Sabrina Glenn Sabrina Glenn of Housing and Residence Life attended The Association for Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA) conference with her $325.00 award. It is intended to serve as an informational conference for those involved in judicial affairs (student conduct). The workshops provided range from topics such as addressing academic dishonesty to educational sanctioning to the legal issues that arise during the conduct process.

Barbara King Barbara King of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is using her $72.00 award to attend a 4-session overview on Photoshop 7 which is part of the Division of Continual Learning’s CALL program. Barbara is looking forward to sharing her new skills with the rest of us.

Katrina Lewis Katrina Lewis of the Office of Orientation received $1,300.00 in scholarship funds in order to attend the Annual Conference on the First Year Experience in Addison, Texas in February 04. Katrina hopes to gain a better understanding for the unique needs of the incoming freshmen and their parents.

Andrea Notaro Andrea Notaro of the Student Employment Office in the Career Services Center received the sum $220.00 in scholarship funds. This allowed her to attend and present at the NCCPA (N.C. College Personnel Association) Fall 2003 Conference in Raleigh. The experience of developing and presenting at a conference was a valuable opportunity for her. Andrea particularly enjoyed the session on Using Pop Culture in Marketing and has plans to implement some of the ideas presented.
