The annual Student Affairs Auction helps us raise funds for Professional Development opportunities. How can you help?

Jeffrey Coleman, Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs, was awarded funds to attend the NASPA Conference. He says “attending this conference will help me to further develop knowledge and skills in working with and being sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population. It will also help me develop skills and knowledge to better provide outreach, and advocacy support to first-year students of color as well as provide multicultural information, resources, and activities in the Multicultural Resource Center that caters to current students.” When he returns, he plans to host a FRED staff development presentation on how Student Affairs professionals can programmatically address the distinct needs of students of color in their day to day work.
Marin Burton, Director of Campus Recreation’s TeamQUESt and Quinton McKissick, Assistant Director, will use Staff Development funds to attend the Cornerstone Designs Advanced Skills Training for challenge course program managers. The field of Experiential Education is currently undergoing a national certification process whereby challenge course facilitators will need to become certified. This training will help to advance Marin’s and Quinton’s own pursuit of certification. Once certified, Marin will then be able to certify her own staff without seeking additional outside vendor assistance.
