The Department of Specialized Education Services offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in Special Education. Bachelor's degrees are available in Professions in Deafness (Advocacy and Services for the Deaf, American Sign Language Teacher Licensure, Auditory-Oral/Birth–Kindergarten Teacher Licensure, Interpreter Preparation, and Teacher Education Preparation K–12 Hearing Impaired Teacher Licensure), Special Education: General Curriculum and Elementary Education and Special Education: General Curriculum Dual Major. Two M.Ed. programs, Special Education: General Curriculum and Birth-Kindergarten: Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development (a program jointly administered with the Department of Human Development and Family Studies), are also offered. A Ph.D. program in Special Education is also offered. Graduates of programs in Specialized Education Services are prepared for diverse roles in a variety of educational and community environments. They are prepared to work with individuals with disabilities across the life span.
