It is the goal of CAPE - D/HH to review and make available a listing of training materials such as books, articles, CDs, and videotapes to schools and public libraries, and on the Web to ensure that trainiing information is available on a long-term basis. The following list contains some descriptions of books in the CAPE Library and are only a few of the excellent resources found on our Library list.

Books for Children

Your Body Belongs to You By Cornelia Spelman & illustrated by Teri Weidner
This book explains what to say and do if someone touches your body when you do not want to be touched, especially when the action involves the touching of private parts.

A Very Touching Book By Jan Hindman
Sexual abuse is a sticky issue and this book addresses that as secret touching and teaches children how to assess each situation according to the secrecy involved. It also provides a natural solution to this kind of problem by encouraging children to tell about unwanted sexual contacts.

The Right Touch By Sandy Kleven & illustrated by Jody Bergsma
A Read-Aloud Story to help prevent child sexual abuse and provides valuable information about sexual abuse and guidance on what to do if a child experiences an abusive situation.

I Can Be Safe! A personal safety guidebook for deaf children By Abused Deaf Women's Advocacy Services
This guidebook provides visual pictures and simple language about personal safety and how important it is to keep the body safe and what to do if someone tries to hurt the child's body.

This is a book for adults to share with children about sexual abuse and it consists of stories that provide an idea of who to trust, avoid potential abuse, and how to tell adult about abuse that might have happened.

This book can be used as a joint reference when explaining about sexuality and encourage parents to start young. This is a fun fact-filled book about a variety of subjects and possible questions relating to sexuality plus sexual abuse or date rape.

Sex Stuff for Kids: A Book of Practical Information & Ideas for Kids 7-17 By Carole Marsh
This book is designed for kids aged 7-17 to answer questions about all sorts of "sex stuff". It can be used by parents to explain certain aspects or it can also be read by kids with discretion.

A book for young people in their language they can understand and has pictures that are helpful in learning about sexuality. These pictures are clear in showing parts of body which may need to be used at discretion of parents and teachers.

Good guidebook in providing ideas on how to be a happy, positive parent with a healthy and positive relationship with your children.
