Recruitment of Students through Alternative Routes to Teacher Training

How do I apply?

Project RESTART has been designed especially for non-traditional adult students who would like to make special education their career.  Financial aid is available through the RESTART project for all participants including:

  • Community college students pursuing or who have earned an AAS degree in Early Childhood
  • Community college students who are ready to transfer to a 4-year professional teacher preparation program in special education
  • Teaching assistants who are currently employed by an area school system and want to pursue a career in special education

Upon acceptance to RESTART students must also meet all eligibility requirements for teacher education as required by the School of Education at UNCG.  Click here to find out more information about these qualifications.

It should be made clear that by accepting Project RESTART assistance for your education you are obligated to teach for each year that you accept the Project Restart award. You are not, however, obligated to teach in N.C. Since the project is federally funded, you must teach in the United States.
RESTART Application available (in Adobe Acrobat)
The UNCG Office of Financial Aid can help you determine your eligibility for financial aid for college.
