Recruitment of Students through Alternative Routes to Teacher Training

Mentoring program

In an effort to make returning to school as easy as possible, Project RESTART offers monthly mentoring meetings to all RESTART participants. The purpose of these meetings is to provide support for all students academically, socially and emotionally. In the past mentoring meetings have included:

Praxis study session guest speakers
UNCG online research seminars Study skills
ESOL workshops Program requirements
How to use APA style Holiday dinner

The mentoring meetings are geared toward the needs of the students and topics are chosen based on their suggestions.Meetings are offered at various times throughout the semester based on the students’ schedules because many of the RESTART participants are working adults with outside responsibilities. The meetings are a very important part of each student’s academic experience. The mentoring meetings serve as a support system for students and allow students to feel “connected” to other individuals who share their professional interests and goals.
