What to do if you see a fire

If you spot smoke or fire in a UNCG facility, the first thing you should do is activate the building's fire alarm by pulling the closest fire alarm pull station.  This will summon the University Police and the Greensboro Fire Department.  It will also allow other occupants to begin evacuating the facility.

If the fire is still small and you feel confident in your ability to use a fire extinguisher, choose an appropriate extinguisher and proceed.
