Wellness Coordinator

Jason RobertsonDr. Jason Robertson joined the Wellness Center staff in 2005 as the Wellness Coordinator. He has worked as a health educator in the college setting for the past eight years. While working in many areas of health promotion, his main areas of interest include peer education, men’s health, GLBT health, sexual health issues, tobacco use prevention, and health promotion with fraternities and sororities. He currently coordinates the peer education and tobacco cessation and prevention programs for the Wellness Center and serves as the Director of Outreach and Training on the new suicide prevention grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Averett University in Danville, VA in 2000, a Master of Public Health degree in Public Health Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2002, an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Higher Education Administration from Appalachian State University in 2008 and a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. Additionally, he is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, a Registered Health Educator (RHEd) with the North Carolina Board of Registry for Health Education, and a Certified Tobacco Cessation Treatment Specialist (CTCTS).
