Goals
The purpose of the UNCG Friends Helping Friends Campus Suicide Prevention Program is to increase the number of students at risk of suicide who seek help. The program has two primary goals.
Friends Helping Friends Has Two Primary Goals:
- To increase the likelihood that peers will identify and refer at-risk students.
- To improve the help-seeking behavior of at-risk students.
To accomplish these two primary goals, Friends Helping Friends has the following four general goals.

- Raise awareness and knowledge about mental health problems, mental disorders, and suicide warning signs on UNCG’s campus.
- Reduce stigma associated with mental health problems, mental disorders, and utilization of professional counseling.
- Promote healthy and effective strategies for managing mental health problems on UNCG’s campus.
- Promote UNCG’s Counseling & Testing Center and Wellness Center services using both direct and indirect outreach initiatives.
