Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)

The fourth most frequently diagnosed mental disorder among adults is Attention-Deficit Disorder and Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, which is also referred to as ADD or ADHD. Individuals with ADD have significant difficulty completing tasks of daily life and experience problems in their performance in school, work, and in interpersonal relationships. ADD refers to people who predominantly struggle with inattention and concentration deficits while ADHD refers to individuals who struggle with inattention as well as hyperactivity and impulsivity issues. Individuals with ADD/ADHD tend to have these additional symptoms:

  • Significant trouble sitting still.
  • Frequently talk while others are talking.
  • Engage in impulsive decision making with drug/alcohol use, sexual activity, or money.
  • Often day dream during class and in interpersonal situations.
