The Medical Clinic provides primary health care services for UNCG students. As a health organization operating within an academic institution, Student Health Services is committed to the support of the educational, research, and service missions of the university.
Student Health Services uses an appointment system. Appointments can be made by calling the Appointment Line (336.334.5340, option 2). For onset of sudden illnesses, injuries, or unexpected problems you can come in without a scheduled appointment and be assessed by a nurse. Based on your needs, a nurse will assign you to the next available provider or ask that you schedule an appointment.
Though we prefer all appointments to be scheduled, we do accept work-in patients. Work-in patients are patients who come in without a scheduled appointment. The work-in patient can expect that patients with appointments or emergencies will take priority and that they will be seen when a provider or nurse becomes available. You may purchase prescriptions and over-the-counter medications without an appointment.
The clinical staff at Student Health Services is made up of health care professionals. All health care providers are licensed and/or certified to practice in North Carolina.
If you are a full time student, you have paid a student health fee. (An undergraduate student must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 hours to be considered a full-time student.) This fee covers the basic care you will receive at Student Health Services. Services such as lab work, x-rays, and prescriptions are not covered in your student health fee; however, Student Health Services offers these services to students at the lowest possible rates.
All UNCG students may take advantage of the health care provided at Student Health Services. Students who have not paid the student health fee will be seen in the health center on a fee-for-service basis or be offered the option to pay the Student Health Fee.

Student Health Service’s main concern is the health of our students and just like your regular family physician we provide general services to our clients. Therefore, if we cannot treat your illness or symptoms or are unable to provide a service in-house we will refer you to a local specialist.
Patient Parking hang tags are required for parking in the spaces marked “Patient Parking”. You can only obtain a hang tag at the front desk of Student Health Services.
All services received at Student Health Services can be paid by check, cash, UNCG first card, or placed on your student account.
