Bulimia Nervosa (BN):
- Eating an unusual abundance of food in a discrete period of time (ie, 2 hours).
- A sense of being out of control over eating during the episode.
- Recurrent use of behaviors to compensate for binge eating to prevent weight gain.
- Binge eating and compensating behavior occurs at least twice per week for three months.
- Bodyweight heavily influences one’s self-evaluation.
- PURGING TYPE To compensate for a binge, the person regularly engages in self-induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives, diuretics, and/or enemas.
- NON-PURGING TYPE To compensate for a binge, the person regularly engages in fasting and/or excessive exercise.
