Gwen Hunnicutt is an assistant professor of
sociology at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Professor
Hunnicutt received her PhD in Sociology from the University of New
Mexico in 2003. Her research focuses primarily on gender and crime
and age variation in homicide victimization. Her most recent
completed paper is titled, Female Status and Infant and Child
Homicide Victimization in Rural and Urban Areas in the U.S.,
1998-2002. Earlier this year she received a Dean's Initiative grant
from UNCG to conduct research on fatal versus nonfatal outcomes
among children in high risk environments in North Carolina. In
addition to this primary project, she is working on research
involving masculinity, culture and crime and varieties of
patriarchy and the victimization of women. Gwen Hunnicutt recently
took over as book review editor for the journal, Sociological
Inquiry.
