Post your response to one of the following practice writing prompts during class on August 23:
Writing Prompt 1:
Please post your initial response to the writing prompt below by September 11. Be sure to include an introductory paragraph, foreshadowing the rest of your response, and a concluding paragraph, summarizing the points you have made. After you have posted your initial response, posted two peer reviews (September 13, see Peer Review Guidelines), received two peer reviews (September 13), and posted your rewritten your response (September 18), you will be graded on the content and on your writing. Your response to the following Writing Prompt should be at least 250 words long:
Summarize what you learned about Deadheads or the Grateful Dead by attending a show (suggested on syllabus under September 4 or pre-approved by the instructor). Be sure to emphasize what you learned that you did not know previously. Give specific examples to support your conclusion.
Note: Do not post peer reviews until you have posted your own initial response to the Writing Prompt. Do not post a peer review if the writer has already received two of them. Be sure to follow the Peer Review Guidelines.

Please post your response to the writing prompt below by October 11. Be sure to include an introductory paragraph, foreshadowing the rest of your response, and a concluding paragraph, summarizing the points you have made. After you have posted your initial response, posted two peer reviews (October 16, see Peer Review Guidelines), received two peer reviews (October 16), and posted your rewritten your response (October 23), you will be graded on the content and on your writing. Your response to the following writing prompt should be at least 250 words long:
Please describe the topic you intend to write about in your research paper. If you know what your thesis (argument) will be, state it and discuss it. If you do not know what your thesis will be, discuss the sub-topics you intend to cover in your paper and how they fit together into a coherent theme. Also describe your research plan. In other words, describe where you will get your information (books, articles, web pages, data bases, class notes, interviews with Deadheads, observations of musical events, etc.)
