Peer Review Guidelines

  • Select a Writing Prompt which has not already been reviewed by two people.
  • Read it carefully.
  • Compose a peer review using a word processing program. When you are finished writing your review, select the entire text, click on copy, get into Blackboard, open a reply screen for the relevant posting, and paste your review into the reply screen.
  •  In your review:
    • Point out at least two things the writer has done well;
    •  Pose at least two questions about the response to the Writing Prompt; and
    •  Make at least three suggestions about how the spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word usage, grammar, style, or organization of the response could be improved.
  •  Be sure to phrase your comments in a constructive and supportive way. Your goal is to help your classmate do his or her best job on the response he or she ultimately submits for a grade.
